Would you use this tool?

Assuming the car hasn't fallen, how does one remove the wheel?? See what happens when you legalize certain smokes.

I believe the description said you had to place some kind of stand under the car and then remove the jack to remove the tire. Who in their right mind would try to position something under a car with only that holding it up and then do it all again to remove the blocking when the new tire was on.

it is correct and i would love to have one just to be able to say i have the correct jack for my 42. have a great new year. dell

Uhhhhh. Wait a minute. Is such a jack actualy documented anywhere by any Packatd authority??? The directions for use as outlined in eBay auction will not work.

If the jack is correct then is it correct for 42 ONLY???? If so then did very early 42's ( built prior to december) have a jack similar to pre 42's????

According to the Reedy & Shaub book "Packard Automobile Company - Tools and Jacks", the rim jack (with accompanying jackstand) was supplied in 1941 and 1942.

Somebody in ebay doesn't usually have the prerogative of interpretation to convince you that Packard offered dangerous scrap.
Take a look at pic 1. What was the reason to start the gearing from the bottom?

Gearing from the bottom:
The geared post was most likely cut from a longer length of mfg'd stock.

Safety issues notwithstsanding i doubt the effectiveness of the jack.
Once jack stand is in place under the car then wheel will drop to ground as jack is removed.

Probably just marginal effectiveness on a good level concrete floor at best.
