During the 1920s and 1930s Mark Moody, located in 10th Av. Edward VII in Shanghai raised to the position of nobody less than the largest car dealer in China.

Gerd,
Once again your extensive research has helped to round out and enrich our knowledge of all things Packard.

The two Mark L Moody Dealership are now linked to this thread.

Thanks Mal, very kind of you.

The caption of the next photograph calls the dealer "Condor distributor". Later we will see another pic, that mentions "Condor". Anybody who can explain this?

-> Here comes my preliminary working hypothesis.

Heaven knows, how Mr. Moody managed to get such a number of contracts. He offered not only Packard but additional Chrysler (DeSoto, Plymouth), American Austin, Fiat and Reo.

Mal, -> this way for bonus material.

Gusha,

Perhaps he was also a Curtiss Aeroplane Co dealer. There was a Condor Model 18 transport available around this time.

Stephen, at the very least, your theory is better than mine. A couple of months ago, I have seen an old photograph, showing an airplane in a Packard showroom. That biplane has been Packard powered and as such it was maybe more for show than for sale. But certainly impressive enough to use it here.
Is anybody out there who recognizes the related Packard dealership?

Mal, that's the above announced second Condor pic. It shows China's "largest showroom with capacity of displaying 22 cars and trucks".

Was Mark Moody the Earle C. Anthony of Shanghai or an even bigger territory? Or was he the predecessor of Max Hoffman who introduced America to many brands of foreign cars?

Mr Moody might have a real problem, these days, in selling imported cars without a substantial PRC-approved business partner.
