On knee action shocks. I remove the plug and use a very funnel that fits snugly in hole. I then fill the funnel slightly up with fluid and rock the suspension up and down through the range of motion. Watch for the bubbles that are escaping from the shock as the fluid fill the shock. Once there are no more bubbles you are done. I will tell you that you will get a pretty good work out during the process.

Thanks
James

The shocks on all 41 Packards are made by Delco, no other brand made replacements. I'm puzzled by your description of "3 arm shock", it has 2 arms held together to make one??

thank you for the replies. my wife is posting this for me and the 3 should be type 3 and is what I told her via a Packard book. I am about to try using a syringe for the filling of oil. thanks for letting me know there is a difficult process for this.

Hopefully shocks have not run dry and the side seals are not worn. If they are there is a good chance oil will run out the sides as you fill past the arm shafts.

iF THE ARM HAS HEAVY RESISTANCE IN BOTH DIRECTIONS THEN YOU ARE IN GOOD SHAPE. THEN IF IT DOES NOT TAKE ANY FLUID THAT MEANS IT'S FULL.
