I am selling my 1954 Cavalier after loving it for 37 years. It has PS,PB, A/C, rebuilt engine, new brake booster, and new gas tank (Kanter). $7500 buys my daily driver Packard, boxes of extra parts, shop tools, receipts folder. Good luck selling the car.

A question on the AC. I don't see rear scoops so am assuming it is not factory but an aftermarket trunk or under the dash setup?? If so is it a period unit or one of the later repro systems. Either way, before you sell the car could you post some photos of the unit and particularly how it was done under the hood.

Many have asked how to go about adding AC to one of the 51-4 models but we have relatively little info and very few photos showing the different compressor bracket and belt arrangements. Any photos or information you could provide would be most appreciated.

I can just make out the clear plastic tubes on the back shelf so it must be one of the aftermarket units.

At some point when the original owners bought the car they added Frigikar after-market A/C. Parts of the A/C have been restored and it is ready for leak testing. The compressor is a Tecumseh original. Will post additional a/c photos this week.

Thanks for posting the AC photos. Am looking forward to the next batch. Under hood and trunk detail photos would be most appreciated.

Interesting is that one of the auto magazines of the day put together a chart of various aftermarket units and Frigikar was listed as not supporting S-P products. Obviously that did not preclude their units from being installed but I wonder if support either from Frigikar or Packard was available to get the mechanical pieces under the hood to fit. It could be the installing dealer did it all on his own and cobbled together pieces designed for another brand.

There are photos of one other Frigikar install which shows a slightly different trunk and control unit. No underhood details though. That install has some short plastic ducts on the package shelf which have a tapered slot or opening running down the front of the duct and looks as if they might also rotate a small amount. What can be seen of yours appears to be the typical rear window to headliner length just about everyone with a trunk unit used..
