Need a little help as to where the cloth straps that are retained on the firewall with machine screws attach to the hood. The straps on my 1200 have been cut close to the firewall, I can not see any point or area that they might attach to the hood, I assume they are to prevent the hood from opening to far. Thanks for the help. Dell
I added a picture of what is left of the strap. Thanks for the help guys

Sorry, can't respond for the 1935 seniors as it's an entirely new body but in 1934 the underhood attachment point was the rubber hood bumper as shown in this photo. This one was done rather crudely but the attachment point is correct. Hopefully 1935 is similar and this will be helpful.

I don't think those were part of the original build and were dealer installed later. There must be a service letter somewhere because I have seen any number of variations, including an elaborate contrivance of brackets and rubber parts on a 32, but missing from any number of other original cars I have seen.

I know one of Paul Lamb's cars had them but have check on the other ones. He had 34 Super Eights. His 1104 sedan didn't have them as I recall.

As to this issue in general 12th series and later had the hood rest as part of the rubber cowl pad. On the earlier cars a microfiber towel always can be rolled up and the hood layed over on that. I suppose straps may have been added because of high winds blowing the hood over.

Your 1935 firewall is most probably like my 1937 Super-Eight.
Here are pics of the left and right locations.
