Old Fashions are my favorite “from ago” beverages!🤣
Thanks for the info as i need to oil my ‘49 8 sedan! Good to know synthetic oil is ok. What about the three spd w/OD, can you use a full synthetic gear oil as well?

I'm not sure what's best for the OD, but I would stay away from very heavy bodied lube. The planetary pinion gears spin very fast when in OD, and they need a quality lubricant with good cold flow characteristics and good film strength.

Same as transmission, 90w GL1. Napa carries it.

I find it humerous that you guys so readily and frequently recommend Napa. My Napa store, in a word, sucks. Nationwide.

Wait, that's two words . . . .

We've got a great NAPA in our town. Locally owned, all the guys there are old car/hot rod guys. Anything I need they will find it. And they ask about the projects every time I go in.

My Napa is great as well. Sounds like you need to find another Napa!

Where my shop is in Oregon, the closer Napa in Redmond is great and the one father away in Bend is great too with the added facility of having a machine shop. Typically I can drop things off at the closer Napa where their shuttle takes it the additional 30 or so miles, then returns it when done.

I have to ride past an Advance Auto, an Auto Zone and an O'Reilly's to get to the Napa. They all suck, but I can save gas and still not get what I want.

I last went to the Auto Zone to get an ignition coil bracket. I described it. "What's it on?" "A '46 Packard." "That's not in our system." Yeah, no $#!t. You'll have to know what the part is." "I don't know what that is." "And you're not going to get off your @$$ to go look for one, either." (Wat, why are you so mean???)

The (older) guy at Advance Auto claimed not to have one, "searched" online, and then challenged me that I couldn't find one for sale online. I told him I could have one headed to my house within 10 minutes of getting home. Sure enough, the Bezoseses came through.

The O'Reilly's in KY isn't bad. They don't have much, but they'll at least look and be less millennial about it.

Those older, experienced counter guys who "knew the books" and knew cars were invaluable resources. They also knew if any old stock was lurking in the back.

My favorite car parts counter guy ever gambled/drank away his store. He did know his stuff and rarely looked anything up.
