Packard Plant Salvage

Well, it looks like they are taking apart the offices in the old Packard Plant. They are stripping all the wood, doors etc. It really is losing the last of its character, (the biggest being the doorways that were removed and sold at auction last year).

I'd love to have one of those old wood doors.

That is great news. This should have been done a long time ago. It's all that's left of the plant that's worth anything, and it was going to all be burned by vagrants if someone didn't save it.
Does anyone know where it's all headed?

You really should go to the Proving Grounds open house in the fall. The progress they are making is wonderful.

The wood that was reclaimed form the factory is being processed, milled and resold. A portion of the proceeds goes to support the Proving Grounds. Check it out:

This is great news BigKev. For the sale of the wood to partially benefit the Proving Grounds Preservation is a real Plus.

Wouldn't it be great for some of the clubs buy some of the wood and use it to make plaques for show awards?

That would be one trophy worth holding onto.

Someone should rescue the old front door to the factory and have it as a part of their garage!!

Already done. One is at the proving grounds (I think) and the other is at the Packard Museum in Dayton.
