If the cord u buy is not black then cut some shrink tube to go over it BEFORE the terminals are soldered on. In that particular application i would just use shrink tube over 3hree wires tho it would not give an original effect as prefered. The shrink tube is most applicable to chemicals and flying debris, just about the best there is short of metal gaurds.

I think that high voltage wire is a little different then auto wire. Go to a trailer supply co like red neck trailer supplys and ask them

If the original wire is 14 gauge you car won't care what other 14 ga wire you use.

Price is the big part. This wire cost me $8 for 6' and I already have all the terminals. As opposed to $50+ for the headlight bucket harnesses plus shipping from a vendor.
