I posted this here because my interest is mostly pre-war Packards. I'm definitely no expert but it seems to me that almost all the NADA values for Packards are unrealistically high. Is there somewhere else to get more true values? I used to look at Manheim Gold and it seemed fairly true and accurate.

I thought NADA was the most realistic of all the car pricing guides. It's tough to keep these updated as there are so few transactions. However I know of an two 34 coupe roadster that just sold and the NDA is not that far off from their selling prices with the appropiate condition. The high side appear on 34s to be a litle high but the average seems right on. The other price guides really undervalue the cars.

So if I'm selling a car I'll use NADA, and if I'm buying I'll use the other guides.

Manheim Gold uses auction sales information. I believe MG was bought by another vehicle price lister, but not sure which one, and don't know if they still base their values on auction results.

Tom,

Guess that means I'd better hurry on up to RI to photo-
document your '34 Coupe, eh?

Pictures of stacks of cash wouldn't be quite the same...

as a professional appraiser I find NADA to be not the best, CPI is the best for postwar even though they have their faults here and there also, Old Cars Price Guide is probably the best for prewar but they are off in some of the lower condition rarer cars. Bottom line: There is no pefect price guide
