That looks like a really nice car, how's the body? Is the engine stuck? It sure doesn't look like it'll take much to get it back perfect! I do have the piece of chrome that's missing there above the windshield if you need it.

Also, I see there's some other Packards in the background there. Are they all for sale? And if so, let me know if there's any '51-'54 Patricians, I need the engine out of one.

The body is straight as an arrow. i am wondering, though, what it will look like under each piece of trim i remove. overall this car is very nice for a field find. the motor, according to the owner, a long time friend of the family, is free and was running when the put it there. True, he has lots of cars, that is only a glimpse, but i will have to ask him if i can post his contact information or not. He likes to keep to himself sometimes and i don't want to disrespect his privacy. i don't know much about the early 50's models, so i wouldn't know if there was a patrician or not. i think it is the one with more headlight chrome????? i don't know. i have lots of pictures that i can post if he is okay with it. i will ask him today. i know plenty about the 55 and 56, more the 55 though.

the interior on this car is in pretty good shape too, headliner is falling slightly, but it is all there the interior will make a good pattern to go by for new fabric, etc.

once i get the car home and clean it up a bit i will post some more pictures for everyone.

also, the upper windshield trim is in the backseat of this car. he said he took it off when he got it because it was loose and he didn't want it to go missing.

later dude,

Henry

Eric,

I think that may very well be a '54 Patty in the background.

they pulled the car around front today. the tires that were on it were alittle dry rotted, but they held air for about 10 minutes before letting down. should be long enough to get it on the trailer. i went and bought an electric winch to make it easier tomorrow when i go pick it up. good news is the block number matched the car's number, but i haven't checked the transmission. he said he thought the tranny was different, but still a twin ultramatic.

saw a tag on the back of the back seat that said 12/14/54, so this car is pretty early in the run for sure. the cloth inlay looks like it has been replaced once, but with the wrong type of cloth and color too. it should be that black with the star pattern and it is not. that is gotta go for sure stock is the best is say.

there was a bunch of lifters in the trunk and a cam shaft as well, also some bearings that wont be bearing anything anytime soon (LOL) and all 4 hub caps in perfect condition, also the spare tire as well....that has to be fairly unusual and rare to find still sitting there. all of the trim was with the car as well, plus some bonus extra Clipper tags, which is good as the front right Clipper is broken. also i am missing the TION on the right Constellation.

right now the car is a graveyard for a bunch of dead bugs, should be fun cleaning that out.

anyways, i will post more pictures when the car is home and alittle cleaner. overall this car is going to need some tlc, but it is all there and complete.

later,

Hank

There's a 54 or 55 Clipper behind the convertible.

it is another 55, either Panama or Constellation as it is a 2 door. tealish color. i don't like that color, so i passed. i am not excited about the engine in mine being torquiseish. i might not paint it back that color, black and yellow with that color engine....barf...

also i forgot to add, this particular person decided to stay private. these cars aren't parts cars per say, he says. there are several others, but he doesn't want his information given out.

sorry fellas, i tried. maybe he will be okay with it later, i did tell him about the website, so maybe he will get on here. but i wouldn't hold my breath.

Hank

update on getting the car home....uh it didn't happen today basically. i got the car half way on the trailer and the back end was dragging. the passengers side rear suspension is sagging and the tires were not holding air. so i had to take off the tires that weren't holding air and take them to get them changed. course the guy didn't get the tires beaded right, but the leak very slowly, so the should hold until i get the car on the trailer if i just keep the air comming. they hold decent, but i plan to take them back to make sure the get them on right once i get the car in my garage.

i couldn't get the transmission to change gears, but i noticed while changing the tire that the drive shaft had been unbolt from the rear end. i thought i was dragging the car, but it must have been the flats keeping the wheels from moving. so, luckly someone else took the driveshaft off for me, i thought i was going to have to do that.

i will give it another go tomorrow, since it gets dark at about 3pm now.......j/k.....but that sucks...i wish it would stay light longer.

anyways,

i will update more tomorrow.

Hank

got the car home yesterday. saturday was a waste of time. the winch was worthless with flat tires and i could afford and more for a winch. so i had to get used tires put on the rims, with didn't bead right, but would hold air long enough to move the car onto my friends flat bed car hauler instead of my trailer. we go it home just fine and it came of with just two of use pushing and went right into the garage.

she is all original, except the front seat bottom cloth was redone in the wrong material. the block has the correct number on it, but he thinks the trans. is different.

found out the drive shaft was disconnected, which was good. it even had a polyglass tire on a rim in the trunk

me and my wife are excited!!

the motor had full oil and it was golden and didn't seem to have any water in it. the breather assemble still had a filter in it with an oil bath filled. the spark plugs were loose in their sockets already, which was smart on the previous owners part. keep the water out, but they didn't freeze either. the motor turns over by pushing on the fan. i just gotta figure out why the trans. wont move into different grears. the lever is stuck on the steering column.

anyways...i hope everyone enjoyed my little adventure. i think the only one that didn't was my muscles.

Hank

Congratulations on your acquisition and getting it home.

You might want to check out the 55-6 tech bulletins and service counselors available on the website for the park situation. There could be several causes but being an early 55, first one coming to mind is the early linkage setup which allowed rods and levers to align in a straight line with the resulting bind and inability to move gearshift lever.
