The 2011 Wheels and Keels Concours d'Elegance was held at the Lakewood Yacht Club on Clear Lake in Seabrook near Houston on April 29 and 30. There were seven Packards on display at the. Actually, there were six, a 1958 Hawk was there but it was being auctioned. The event featured classic and vintage vehicles and wooden hulled boats. The show was well attended and the weather cooperated with mild temperatures, and some breezes and cloud cover. The 100th annual anniversary of the Indianapolis 500 was also celebrated with a nice display of race cars that participated in the event. This was our first K&W, but we hope to return many times. On the way home to Austin on Sunday, we stopped and visited with a Packard friend and got "Free Rides" in his 1936 Standard Eight Coupe and 1951 Patrician.

Nice pictures, thanks for posting. I've seen some of those cars before, but not the 34 Eight dual cowl. One thing struck me about it and this body style in general. Only half of the sidemount covers are present, the tread covers but not the side plates. Perhaps it's a work in progress, or perhaps the owner likes it better than way. I often think the open cars like that look even better with the canvas sidemount covers, perhaps in body color, and strap-on mirrors. To each his own...

The chromed radiator shutters were standard on a Super Eight and extra cost on the Eight. Fine looking example.

Yes. Thanks for posting the photos.
The '34 is not a dual cowl phaeton, however. It's a touring,
and the '28 is not a touring, it's a phaeton.
