Owen, thanks for the pictures. I obviously missed the chance to see the longest Packard motorcade, Germany ever saw.

Quote:
...It was like going from a technicolor movie to a black and white one. The western part was vibrant, colorful, and alive, but the east was dismal, gray, and there was still parts that had not been rebuilt since the war...

John, visiting the capital of a country within given routes means to see the most colorful area. Imagine the drabness of a side road in a small town ...

Randy, it needs power to condone our talkativeness. Again thanks and sorry for it. These virtue of tolerance speaks volumes about the richness of your experiences.

How about the missing avatars?

Michael, thanks for the addition. Vienna was even parted in five sectors, for ten years the center of the town has been a so-called interallied territory. To drive trough the town one needed a total of 11 permission stamps. Please take a look at an interallied patrol [source: www.aeiou.at].

After extensive search I found a photograph, showing a Soviet High Commissioner of Allied Control Council in Vienna chauffeured in a ZIS.

Nothing done on my side. Perhaps a browser cacheing issue?
