The Icelandic president embassy owns 1942 Packard 180 sedan(1542)who they use as state car. They need the original radio for it.It would be better if the radio have been converted to FM.Anyone who knows about such radio for sale ?

That sounds like a great car, a formal sedan (leather roof). We'd love to see a picture of it.

My brother restored a 1942 formal, and my stepfather currently owns a 1941 formal.

The radios do not come up for sale that often, but they do occasionally. Once you find one, here is a company that can do the FM conversion for you:

Hello Sigurbjorn:

Eight years ago these guys restored my 1941 Philco radio and added an FM board. Turn the knob on once and you get AM. Turn on the radio knob twice (on, off, on again) and you get FM. The dial does not show the FM frequency, so you have to search for a station you like.

Now that sounds neat... not destroying the original look yet adding the convenience of FM hidden away from sight. Wish more people did this.
