Bill,

I was in a rush to post the pic's yesterday and forgot to say the plate is 114mm X 114mm. The reason for the rush? We were off to see the grand-daughters, even better than Packards!

Randy,
Had to laugh when I read that, and the ego laps it up!

Mal,

You might want to pick up a copy of The DAM Book Digital Asset Management for Photographers by Peter Krogh. Many sound ideas for creating a sane retrieval system for your digital image files.

I learned the hard way that it doesn't take long to get bit even when you think you have a good archive protocol in place.

Stephen,
for the thought, but I'll probably pass on it, I don't consider myself a photographer. My needle in the haystack approach usually suffices as it's not just one big stack but lots of smaller ones. My cranial memory function usually works well enough to point the search process in the right direction. I use Google's Picasa Web Albums for storing my pic's. Plus I use a little Canon PowerShot A480 camera, basically on automatic mode so it's point and press, which I only know enough about to be able to take the pic's I want. My computer ludditism extends to knowing just enough to do what I need to do or to get me into trouble. If I was a serious photographer I'd certainly need an archival system then.
