PRE-ORDER (If there's interest) - 1937 Light Switch Knob Assembly

Hi all,

At the recommendation of a fellow member, I wanted to see if there's any interest in this item. This is a light switch knob for 1937 cars.

For 1937 cars, item number 315580. According to a Max Merritt data sheet, this fits 120C, 120CA, 120CD, 138CD and 115C vehicles.

Here are a few pictures and the link where you can order one.

https://whiteglovecollection.com/shop/1935-1941-packard-light-switch-knob-pre-order/

As with the ignition switch bezel I need a minimum order of 10 pieces before it can go to production.

The knob and escutcheon are machined brass and triple chrome plated. The rod is steel.

Thank you,
Crin

Is this an accessory light switch? The 41 headlight switch is a rectangle in the row of similar knobs

I belive this is a 37 only part. At least on bezel side of things.

Correct, strictly 1937 as indicated by the Packard models numbered 120C 120CA 120CD 138 CD 115C in the Parts List under part number 315580.

Sorry about that - my bad. I misread some of the info that Bob and I talked about.

I'll update the order link to reflect that it's only a 1937 year part.

Thanks,
Crin

I may be interested. Restoring a 120 C now and I seem to remember the control shaft etc. was questionably useable. I have to hedge because my shop is totally snowed in here in California. More snow today. It may be a week or two before I can check the box with the switch in it. Thanks Bruce G

Am not a prewar guy so don't have much to offer but am curious about this item. In spite of 37 being mentioned as the highest production year, how much demand is there for something that only fits some models from that single year and what is the failure point.

Another question is how much physical difference is there with the size or pattern on the actual bezel or length of shaft between the various years and models. If there is none or an almost indiscernible difference between some models or years perhaps the bezel and shaft only from this run could also be made available separately. A buyer with another year could add a knob from an independent source. Perhaps a minor CAD change could also make a different bezel also feasible.

Lavine lists plastic knobs for 40-42 models but shows nothing earlier. Some of their plastic knobs mention having a metal insert but no details on what would be needed for mounting them. Perhaps something universal could be worked out for these shafts to accommodate them. If the 39 and earlier knobs are metal knobs with the difference only being shape then finding those could be an issue unless perhaps something along a separate repro run of knobs only could be considered.
