Hello,
I have a 1955 Packard Clipper, and the Vin tag is gone from the door jamb. Would anyone know if and where else I might find the VIN on the car? Thanks.

As Guscha said, If the car still has the original engine, the number should be stamped on the smoothed surface or pad in the top of block just before the valve valley cover in area shown. The stampings may be faint or covered in grease. Should start 55XX-XXXX

G'day Monterey,
Another to PackardInfo.

And I invite you to include your '55 Clipper in the Packard Owner's Registry here, together with a pic, any known history and how you acquired it?

I know you guys are gonna hate hearing this, but the 55 in question is just a parts car. It is rusted beyond any hopes of repair. I bought the car for the engine. I hope to use it in a project of mine- a Model T hot rod that is period correct to the mid/late 1950s era. The reason I need the VIN is because here in Florida, I cannot dispose of the rest of the car unless it has a VIN, the recycling yards will not touch it without one.

Thanks.

Monterey,
The Packard Owner's Registry caters for parts cars, so inclusion of your '55 Clipper there wouldn't be out of place. I for one would be interested to see pic's of the engine and the T Hot Rod. And maybe any surplus parts from the '55 could be listed in the For Sale Forum here? Could help finance the Rod?

Well, my project is just a pile of parts at this time, I'm basically just in the gathering stage right now. But, I do have a good friend that runs a 352 Packard V8 in his '34 Ford. The car is certainly rough around the edges, but he drives the hell out of.

Here is a short video of him beating me at the drag strip. (I'm driving the '61 Ford in the near lane)---

and a few photos of the car--

Monterey,

Thanks for the video of the 352 Packard powered '34 Ford Coupe. Takes me back to the mid '60's, turned a whopping 26.5 seconds for the standing quarter in a dead stock '28 Ford Tudor Sedan!

Unfortunately the pic's you posted of the car aren't visible.

I was able to see the car by pasting the address in without the [img] at each end.

Thanks Howard, did that and have included pic's here. Looks to be a work in progress with a grill change evident.
