Just tuned up my 1948 Super Eight and now need to adjust the timing. She is now real sluggish in 2nd...and smoking more than usual. I'm not sure what we are missing, but is there a certain procedure we need to follow with the distributor to begin the adustment? Thanks!

Jurt,

Here's a copy of the Service Manual/Tuneup booklet. You should find the procedure in there.

And an invite, could you please include your '48 Super Eight in the Packard Owners Registry?

Kurt,
in anticipation, didn't know you have more than one Packard. By adding them to the Registry all here will be able to appreciate them!

So I took off the distributor cap that I just put on...to make sure I set the point correctly. Put it back on and the car would not start. A piece of the new cap had broken off. I'm guessing that was my problem. New on is on order.
