I am back on the road again

after many months I finally got my 52 back on the road.
went for a great drive yesterday in beautiful Hawaii. I drove for over 1 hour, 55 miles and drove smooth and nice at 65 mph....
it felt great to get out and drive again.

lately I have had one thing after another, but all is repaired and working , passed the safety check and paid the state of Hawaii $222.oo to be legal.

Hawaii won't pass a car with clear signal bulbs or lenses. so I had to change that. I could not find a 6v amber bulb and was impatient to check on line if such an item exists. So I bought 2 cheap amber lenses and dropped them in the original glass lense and it works.....

I am so happy to have the car running again. I feel my car should be driven to keep working. It seems like they just deteriorate it they just sit around.

hello all:
I have been reading advice here aabout what oil I should use when I do my first oil change.

my question is: Does anyone recommend adding Lucas oil when I change my oil????

I always use it on my daily driver and wonder about using it in my 52 327........

I am planning to change oil, filter. drop the pan etc and clean and get an idea of what it looks like.

thanks for the advice....

hello.
I have a 1952 200 as well. they did come with a rubber mat in the front and carpet in the rear. I like this set up. I still have my original mat in the front , but very old and cracked etc.
I haave searched for a new replacent...... like a reproduction of the original. you know, mmolded to fit nice.
I have not found a source as of yet. if any one know of a source let us know.
thanks.

I got both rear turn signal to work. cleaned everthing real well with sandpaper etc.
I followed the advice and cleaned the front pax signal. I cleaned all the connection inside the engine compartment on the inside fender up near the grill. I thought for sure it would work, but no luck. perhaps tomorrow I will take off the socket at the chrome housing on the bumper.

funny thing: on the center guage(speedo) at the 10 and 2 position there are two indicator lights. I fussed with these for a bit today. I thought they were both turn signal, left and right. well, they are not. one is hi beam and the other , I guess is one light for the signals. LOL
the hi beam I always thought worked, but not it shorts out. so I will have to fix that. I AM DOING ALL THIS SO I CAN GET MY SAFETY CHECK COMPLETE. wow.
I did get the light for the key in the ignition switch to work. nice.
thanks for all yur help. more later.

thanks for contributing to this topic,
wow , s. Carolina is EXPENSIVE!!!!!

I just went over some bills again. I won't be able to pay my fees for another few wks or so. just finished a lot of work on my car and really want to take it for a drive. i'll just have to be patient.
Hawaii won't let you pay your vehicle tax with a credit card . so, i'll just wait.
