Taken in the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic the pics are difficult to date, however, it causes astonishment to find such a car ensemble behind the Soviet fence.
The below mentioned source contains more than a few contemporary photographs.

A story, written in Russian, reports on a man who lives in Leningrad (today Saint Petersburg). He bought his Packard Six in the 1950s and until today he and his car weather all storms. They just go on forever, all revolutions and counterrevolution aside.

Bless me, father, for I have sinned. Stone the crows, I got a ride in a RHD Packard on the northern edge of Europe and forgot to ask for its history, not to mention VIN / thief proof numbers. To drive a RHD downtown on a busy road in a foreign country isn't a pleasure but a hard task. Its degree of difficulty resembled the first ride on a sidecar motorcycle. It'll makes you sweat if you never did it.

Little correction to post nr 72, the picture is taken in 1938 and Estonia was then not a part of the Soviet union(became part of in 1940 formally).
As far as I know there is Little chance if any of the cars presented on the photo have survived. Most where destroyed turning the war. Others just rotted to death and where later scrapped,some went as a war trophy to Russia. In short terms its everything we know of what happened to the cars these days.

Gerd, this has turned out to be a very interesting thread! How fascinating to see so many Packards abroad. Of course my favorite is in post #71, I am bias of course.

Congratulations on your ride in the '41! Perhaps your failure to obtain full information will be forgiven and absolved.

Steve (hardtop), I wasn't aware of the fact that the pic was taken in 1938. Thanks for clarification.

Jim, even today one or another surprises can be found in the area of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. To find a Packard twelve-cylinder block is one of these surprises. But to find two of them side by side in Kharkiv, Ukraine comes as a stunner! Instead of making a challenge on grounds of bias I hope to reopen your mind.

Packard was a significant exporter of cars, given their volume of production. There is a table of exports by year in the Kimes-edited book. Copyright prohibits me from scanning it but here's some data. Beginning in 1935 the majority of exports were junior cars. I have some prewar records from the Finnish dealer Autola Oy which shows about 95% of their imports were junior Packards in the 1937-40 era.

Lots of country names there that are different today!
