Looking at the parts book it appears most have the metal pipe. You can look and find your chassis and maybe get some idea based on the number of hoses or clamps required.

It was a three piece item with short straight upper and lower pieces and an intermediate curved metal pipe. Clearly delineated in the parts book. If I recall correctly the hose clamp quantity is listed as X.

At the time and until 1949 curved hoses were not used on any car. If your lower hose is 1 piece curved it is an interchange from some other later car and it is far superior in function and reliability to the original which has more places to leak. If you are going fro 100 points, use the original

Thanks for that Fred.

Hank, please post the number on the hose. It's awkward at best to get the three pieces in there, one piece will be easier!

Another point, is the '38-'40 pump so much different from other 115/120 pumps? Especially in regard to the orientation of the inlet on the pump. If it is, the one piece hose probably wouldn't work for other years, or would it?

The only number on the hose is what I have pictured already. I can tell you that the outlet on the 37 aftermarket pump I have is in a slightly different location vs the 39 pump. The hose just does fit and someone could have cut it from a bigger hose for all I know. I do not see any other markings on the hose. I don't even know if the number that I pictured is even a part number.

If I replace it I just plan no taking it to the auto store and sizing it up with the ones on the wall already. its literally just a 90 degree bend about 6" on each side. could be cut out of another stock hose for a different car.

No problem. A google search has nothing on that number.

Hello Henry,
The 115c has a metal near right angle elbow with
a straight hose either end, the later model pump has a larger (1 3/4") inlet so you will need to sleeve the connection for the hose to metal pipe.
Regards Pepe

Just for reference, here are some photos of an original 1935-37 water pump as used by 120's and the 115C and beside it for comparison a 1939 and later pump.
