put in some of the smaller things on the motor. finished up the transmission with the new rear seal and buttoned things up.

proceeded with painting the flywheel black and coloring the markings white, along with the needle pointer on the bell housing.

new pilot bearing installed.

felt installed in lower pan cover. Max Merritt kit had this felt included, the Kanter did not. Having both kits was not the best move financially, but did yield to using the best parts from each kit.

Max Merritt throw out dust cover was too small to fit over the arm. had to cut fringes to make the hole bigger to fit.

trans mounted to motor.

DAF came by on Friday and we had some fun playing Packard. The water pump was of great interest and good thing as he noticed a hole in the casting that led to one of the bolt holes. I will be welding that back up or maybe just some metal epoxy shoved in the hole.

motor stabbed. but not with out scratching the hell out of several places. nothing that can't be touched up and I didn't expect it would go without some scratches anyways.

for now it is sitting on jack stands. I had a day of nice weather and even though I didn't have the mounts ready to install I wanted to get the motor in before the crap weather comes.

can anyone tell me the two items that I did not paint green....by choice obviously.....

Inspection cover is green. Wouldn't have cared either green or black on that one.

Fill tube seems like it should have been black to begin with.

The two I'm talking about are the clear coated water neck and the black oil pump.

Doesn't really matter. I like it as it is, right or wrong.

Hank,

I notice in the photos showing the bellhousing there is a circular hole, it's almost in the middle in front of the floor shift lever. I don't remember seeing this on my '41 120 bellhousing or on other later 110/120 bellhousings that I've seen. Of cause I'm getting older so the memory might not be what it once was! But I'm wondering if it's an original feature for '37's or not?

Inspection hole of some sort. Not sure what for. Maybe looking at the clutch plate from inside the car as there is another larger hole in the floor that looks like it lines up with the one in the bellhousing.

Would be unusual for the hole in the top of the bell hsg to be used to inspect clutch, there's nothing to see which would indicate condition. Clutches last 50,000 miles so no need for quick access. Besides anything you would need to see can be better seen by removing bottom clutch cover ????

i just guessed on what the hole could be for. i guess if you didn't want to get under the car and take down the inspection plate and all you had to do was pop a couple of hole covers in the floor to look at the clutch...that would be easier. again, just guessing. i plugged the hole, because i didn't want stuff getting in there from the top.
