When discussing RHD cars made while the Packard Canadian plant was in operation (1932-39), it can be important to note from the patent plate if the car was built in Detroit or Canada. During those years either plant could have produced an RHD car, depending on the destination country. The plates clearly indicate the country of origin, typical Packard Canada plate below.

Interesting, Dave. I take it the plant was in Windsor and the selling dealer, Toronto. It almost looks like Packard had a wholly owned Canadian subsidiary company, separate from the US parent? Lots of US companies did that for tax purposes. To those up here, not aware of the connection, they APPEAR to be Canadian businesses. Chris.

Yes, understood thanks. Did the Windsor plant produce a limited range of body styles? For efficiency it wouldn't make sense for Windsor to replicate all the body styles of Detroit... just the most common styles.

These 818 coupes in question are definitely from Detroit. It's my understanding that the same body was placed on the Eight, Super Eight and Twelve from 35 through 39 to complete the 2/4 coupes of that era. Maybe experts could clarify. Perhaps it was a sensible production decision to limit that to the Detroit plant, with a small run of RHDs as Mal suggests?

John, the super 8 and Twelve were riding on a 139 inch wheelbase (I'm talking about the 2 passenger coupe, cause there are different wheelbase' within each line up). If memory serves me right, for example the front fenders between the super 8 and the Twelve were different length. They were not identical bodies used for the 3 different senior models.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that the difference in length was forward of the cowl, so fenders and hood are different length but the same body shell could be used.

Is that not the case?

Dont hold me to it but I think the difference in the coupe is made up between the door and rear wheel. Golf club door area.

35 RHD 6W equipped Eight Coupe - $7.500.00 one of only 2 known RHD '35 Eight Coupes but there were a lot of parts missing.

35 RHD 6W equipped 120 Touring Sedan - $100.00 Scrap value

38 RHD TJ Richards bodied 120 Sedan - $150.00

47 LHD Custom Super Eight Clipper Sedan - $2,400.00

50 RHD Eight Sedan PACA badge on bumper - $3,500.00

51/2? RHD Sedan - $100.00 Scrap value

53? RHD Clipper Sedan - $150.00

53? RHD Clipper Sedan - $100.00 Scrap value

55 RHD Clipper Sedan - $5,000.00) Both bought by same bidder

55 RHD Clipper Sedan - $1,800.00)

55 LHD Four Hundred Hardtop - $5,400.00

* Star of the event was the '28 Studebaker President Roadster which with very spirited bidding, including a number of phone bidders, hammered at $40,400.00. For our US friends our dollar is only worth 2/3rds of a US dollar at present. So for the $500 '34, thats about US$335.

The scapper bid $100.00 on each of the rusty wrecks and if he was outbid by somebody with $150.00 he didn't bid again.

Couple of photos of the two '34's squezed into the space of one for the trip to Adelaide, about 750 miles.

I'm writing a story for the club magazine about the event, so won't share any more at this time.
