Could the guy on the left be Sergei P. Korolev (1906-1966)?
http://history.nasa.gov/sputnik/korolev.html Thanks for the clue Gerd, would never have got it otherwise. The guy on the right, still working on that. Attach file: (22.14 KB)

Not trying to stall for time or anything like that Gerd, but which guy? Right or left? Are there bonus points for getting both?

Hi Jim:
Same old me. The topic starter of this thread is the one with the uncle. The 726 was sold in '96 and needs to be replaced. Hopefully with one a little longer! John Oder - who is old but still reasonably well.

Robert: I am very sorry to hear that you lost your wife to cancer and the health problem you have also had. I truly hope that this New Year holds good things for you.
You may not remember me however, a couple of years ago I had some contact with you via mail concerning the article you did for PAC on the inline 12 article you wrote. You were so kind to send me an advanced copy of the article before it was published. The photo you sent me of the inline 12 still hangs on my wall today. Again I want to Thank You for your kindness that you showed me at that time. John F. Shireman Jersey Shore, Penna.

John, I corresonded with your uncle in Texas a number of years ago when he owned the blue 7-26 sedan. I am sorry to hear he is not well these days. Please remember me to him. I was not aware he owned a 7-33. Can you tell us anything about the car's history? Jim Pearsall in NJ.

January 2009. Replaced the original 6 w/3speed the the newly aquired 1930 8 w/4speed. The parts look great. They will need to be restored but they were as described and look like they were running yesterday. Switching engines required building new front engine mounts, the rears stayed the same. There was no problem with space as we had left room for this swap when we relocated the 6 in the chassis. The trans is also slightly longer but it will not cause a problem. We also located the steering box (using the one from the '30) and the seating position. We are finalizing the body bucks and starting to experiment with the sheet metal and bracing. It's hard to tell from the photos but the body will have almost no flat panels, everything being suttley curved. Photo pac 13 seems to show the teardrop shape best. On the 16th my car buddies again converged on the shop and we fooled around with the new engine and got it fired up! It ran a little rough but no strange noises, leaks, or smoke so it looks like we will be starting the rebuild with good basic engine. Thanks for inviting me to show my project on your site. It has become required daily reading. Will keep you posted on the speedsters progress. Attach file: (14.98 KB)

One reason you shouldn't is that it doesn't cost that much to do it correctly. The woven welting is dirt cheap, and you could glue or pop-rivet it instead of staples I suppose.
