Well I bought 2 extra batteries, and another 1 gig SD card for my digital camera.

So I should be able take lots of pictures and post them on the website. That way the folks that could not come to the show can enjoy all the wonderful Packards that I am sure will be in attendance.

Now unless the cars are clearly marked as to their model and year (or a find a good tour-guide that wants to walk the show with me), we may have to play the "Identify these Packards" game again after I get them all put online.

Welcome Ron,

Will be looking forward to seeing some picture of you progress.

Good luck with her.

Yes we did. But, I'm not quite sure that the wheels I have on the car are actually Packard, and the offset may be different. It doesn't really matter, because the bolt patter is going to change when I swap rear ends out for either a '94+ Mustang 8.8", or try the Lincoln Mark VIII independent rear with custom wheels.

The photos I have seen did not have any accessories or torque converter installed.

"The engine is motored sufficiently to indicate the amount of unbalance, at which point rotation stops and the prescribed amount of unbalance compensated for by automatically drilling into the crankshaft pulley and welding a slug onto the flywheel. As a result, the stack-up of tolerances that otherwise might accumulate during the assembly of the engine is reduced to not more than 1/4-inch-ounces, thereby insuring precision balancing of every engine."

thnx, jack vines

I don't understand why 235s won't fit into your rear wheel wells. I have no problem installing/removing them. Do you raise the rear end to max before trying to install/remove them?

Mr. Pushbutton -

While I still try to check in at the AACA on weekends, I don't post there very often anymore. The new screen format makes posting tedious.

That last "upgrade" at the AACA site caused more problems than it solved, but I saw that it wasn't just Packard people who were fired up over it.

Seems like the few people still posting regularly in the Packard DF forum are die-hard members of the AACA. Perhaps they have been trying to help keep up appearances, but given the decline in use, I wouldn't be surprised if the AACA shutdown their Packard forum. It wouldn't be much of a loss as many of the past threads are so shot full of holes after they deleted not only Turbopackman's posts, but those that responded - even indirectly.

Luckily, the mission of BigKev's site is to collect and preserve information to help keep these cars on the road.

Neither have I. I know I have 225/75R15's on my Patrician, as I couldn't squeeze 235's into the rear end, even though I'd rather have the wider tire, even if it is only 10mm.

Eventually, I'm going to put some 16" or 17" wheels on her, and go with the widest possible tire I can find, all the way around. I want this baby to hug the road, and with a lower profile, wider tire, and the suspension upgrades I plan, it will.

Ron,

Nice try and nice car! I'm impressed.
I'll be in the LA area 3rd - 5th August at the end of my USA trip, any chance of seeing it in the metal?

We broke a valve spring 6 weeks ago and today we finally rested the head back into place. Its not bolted down yet, so we hope to finish her up tomorrow. Most of the wasted time was waiting on parts and tools we didn't have. We tried to have a mechanic work on it but all that did was waste money towing it back and forth, So my grandson and myself decided to do it ourselves. Its been 45 years since High School Auto Shop but we're close to getting her done. Can't wait to hit the starter button.

Is it just me, or is the Packard chat on the AACA site deadsville now, and all of the Packard folks are over here?

Oh, and welcome Ron, you found the right place
