Could you please excuse my ignorance, and explain to me what a "esquire" is? I thought I had seen virtually every
model of Packard from the Mid-30's to the final Detroit model of 1956, but that one eludes me. SVENSK

I had a 52 200 series in 54, so I know it was unaltered, and it had a dark grey dash and glove box in a color I would refer to as pewter.

It looks like a fine time! I had planned on coming to it from the time it was first discussed. However I got called in to work this weekend. And, in the tough economy, I just couldn't bear the expense of the trip plus losing 3 days work.... Was that 6 cars the total number of Packards that came for the event, or just the 6 that went to Oatman?

Absolutely yes! If you look closely, you can plainly see the windshield and hood scoop. On the right above the miscellaneous "stuff"

Yes, It is a 1952 200series sedan, similar in many ways to a 1951, but with subtle trim differences.

Just in general conversation, I have read your comments on Woodgraining, and have given some thought to taking a shot at experimenting with it. The last Packard I had was a 1950
Deluxe Super 8, bought from the original owner, and had a flawless beautiful interior, with one exception; That being the driver's side window moulding, where perspiration and friction had removed the beautiful graining. I also have some questions about color. My Father had a 48 with what I would call Maple graining, I had the 23rd series car with what I would call Mahogany or perhaps Rosewood, and years ago my brother had a 22nd series, short wheelbase Super 8 with a gray, or ash colored dash, and so, I wonder is there anything in the Packard literature anywhere that makes reference to the colors. For all the Packards that I have owned, I'm still kinda dumb about a lot of details........Thanks, SVENSK

Thanks Guys: I was having doubts about my memory, and wondered if Alzheimer's had set in. Too bad that I can't find out from the original owner, he was in his sixties when he bought it new,and I bought it when he traded it in ,in January of 1957, So, I agree that what you have explained is the most plausible reason....Thanks, SVENSK

53 Caribbean Script

I have been re-living my PACKARD memories (some of the
happiest days of my life); and I enjoy flipping through the photos of 1953 cars, and it raises a question in my mind. My 53 Caribbean (2678-2540) had chrome emblems that said Caribbean in script on each front fender about midway between the door seam and the rear of the front wheel opening. In looking through the photos, I find only one 53 and one 54 with the emblems. Were they not a part on every new Caribbean? When I had my car, I saw an original advertisement that clearly showed such an emblem. Or is my memory becoming clouded? Just wondering. SVENSK

Thank you Mike, I appreciate your thoughts, and have reviewed the photos of your car. Truly Beautiful!
However, the current financial situation prevents me doing anything, as badly as I would like to. Sincerely, SVENSK (Jack Lindholme)
