As I do the body work on my 1942 120 convertible I am ready to weld up the old double antenna mounting holes and re-drill for the correct antenna.

Looking for the measurements from the belt line molding down to where the antenna should mount

Attached is a picture of the existing antenna

Any insight or pictures would be helpful

I don't know much about prewars but the 42 acc databook mentions 4 antenna options. The running board and cowl antenna are the only ones mentioned for convertibles. 3 photos from the archive would seem to fit the suggested cowl antenna type but I can't say if all are correct since there does appear to be differences but the location on all would seem to be the one mentioned in the antenna description. I imagine the actual height placement could vary a bit if the driver preferred as long as it landed in the general area suggested.

tight fit with the accessory mirror, spotlight, and hood opening. The width of the belt molding is a known - you could come very close on spacing by using it as a scale in the photo.

My 41 has what is I believe a 40 antenna mount - similar shape to the 41 but different mast connection. It is mounted 5.5" below the belt molding, measured along the line of the antenna mast (not vertically) if that helps
