New Post-War guy....Howdy from Texas!

Hey Everybody...

I just got 2 1948 sedans and 2 1949 woodies and 1 really nice complete chassis.

It was an all or nothing deal. Still trying to figure out what I am going to do. Each car is packed to the roof with parts and one extra engine.

I think I am going to try to get the chassis running first. Evedently it came from a museum here in central texas and was running when it was parked....yeah right. The head looks like it has been removed so I will start with a good inspection.

I have yet to go over the chassis to find any indication as to the exact year. It looks the same as far as I can tell and the engine looks the same as well.

Everything is real dirty/dusty and I will post some pics as soon as I start getting stuff cleaned up.

Thanks,
Walter

Welcome and congratulations. As you know or might have guessed, the motor number on the engine in the chassis will be the only form of ID for that one. If the engine is original at least you'll have a year and a good idea of what chassis. If you haven't already got the info, a handy serial number list and info to help decipher size and chassis is available here

Congrats Walter - I chased that deal for nearly a year, had the trucks and trailers ready, however, my background as a lawyer seemed to drive a wedge in the deal when I asked for titles and/or an affidavit of sale. Just curious as to how you fared in this regard?

I might be interested in one of the woodies if you decide to sell. I'm in Missouri, so not too far away.

I got one title for the 48 and a copy of another title. I also found a data plate in a box but have yet to try to match it up.

G'day, or should I say Howdy, Walter,
Irrespective, to PackardInfo!

I see this "As soon as I figure out exactly what I have I will post it here!" in your signature line. I presume that means you are going to include all five Packards in the Packard Owner's Registry here on PackardInfo? I hope so, not often does the chance come along to boost the numbers there by more than one at a time.
