oil filter tubing

Hello to one and all. I have been reading and this is the first topic I've wondered about. It concerns the oil filter tubing on my 327. The upper tubing is steel but as I was cleaning the area out the lower tubing gave way. It goes from underneath the cannister and goes to the crankcase. I had thought both were steel. Naturally the tubing also collapsed when brushed up against. Would a replacement hose be like the flexible tubing on the inlet side of the gas pump? No parts/hose crimping store seems to be able to replace it.

Should be a steel line. Just buy a length of the right size at an auto parts store. You'll need a flaring tool as well; if you don't have one it's a great thing to have in your tool box as you'll use it many times over the years.

Don't forget to put the fittings on the line before you flare the ends.

As Dave said it's just standard brake like tubing. Your local Napa, Kragen, Autozone, etc part store will carry it in various lengths. Not only will you need the flare tube, but you most like will need a tubing cutter as well.

Here is a picture of the oil lines on my 327 after replacement.

I picked up a oil filter off a 49. These lines will not work for me if you need one of then just email me ralwes@bellsouth.net

Thank you all. I just knew they were supposed to be steel. Haven't thought of using brake lines but it should work as well as original.

Just get whatever diameter tubing matches the original and in steel, doesn't necessarily have to brake line tubing. Most places have an assortment of diameters and lengths, some of which will be brake lines (have a double-flare at the ends) and other not. No need for double-flare on oil filters, it's relatively low pressure in and with an open return to the crankcase.
