All three brake hoses (front and rear) are the same.
Clippers 1954 -1956 (Seniors also??) Original Hose: Wagner F11191 Napa Hose: UP 11146 Just double check the specs on Napa's website to make sure specs (length and end fittings) are the same as your 400. This was the hose I used on my '54.

Thanks Kevin. I will remove my hoses and take them to NAPA to match them with your part numbers. My only concern is that there are different part numbers in the Packard parts catalogue for the front and rear hoses. Maybe it is only the length that makes them different. I will know soon enough. Thanks again.

Perhaps that is a difference between the Clippers and the Seniors. I know that the '54 and '55 Clippers use the same three hoses brake hoses all around.

G'day Brian,
See you've been a PackardInfo member for a while but first post, so ![]() And a request, could you please include your '55 400 in the Packard Owner's Registry here, together with a pic, any known history and how you acquired it? EDIT - Just in the Chatroom and I saw there that Phil, aka member "Phils38cpe", had advised Brian to post his request in the Forums. Way to go Phil, well done!

According to my Packard parts cataloug ALL 55-56 use the same front brake hoses. ALL 55-56 use same rear brake hose but a different part number from the fronts. IIRC the rear hose is longer than the front.

If it's of any help to you, my 1962 Wagner catalog lists the following for a 1955 senior:
FC8699 for rear FC20251 for front

Thank you all for your help. Durring all the trouble shooting to find out why my brake pedal was hard as a brick and slow to apply the brakes I found 2 problems. One, the brake hoses were restricted internally. The rear hose was completely restricted and the front hoses were about 40% restricted. Two, the internal vaccuum line in the boost chamber had come off. Now I have power brakes. I bought the hoses at Autozone and replaced them as well as all 4 wheel cylinders. I've put the Autozone part numbers for the front and rear brake hoses and the wheel cylinders on the parts cross reference list. Thanks again. Brian
