Could someone please point me in the direction of a specialty tool that effectively and safely removes door handles in my 5587. Needing something substantial and the 'old shop towel' trick isn't working. Many thanks.

They are all over for ten bucks or so.

Use carefully; they scratch. Put gaffer tape on the tips of mine......

Not really familiar with this year, but the following KD-435 tool was listed as being the tool for the job

You can use the K-D 431 which is what I have. If you do use it wrap the back with some tape to avoid scratching the metal door panel.tooltopia.com/kd-tools-431.aspx

You could make something by cutting a slot in the end of some 16 or 18ga scrap sheetmetal. Again, protect or wrap the edges with tape so as not to scratch the door metal or tear the upholstery. Overall length to suit you but the professional tool is about 7". Width about 1 1/2" if flat or if edges curved like the tool, a little over 2" wide in the depression -- enough to span the handle end. Slot needs to be 1/2 wide and 5/8 deep.

Thank you gentlemen. Very much appreciated. The old gal is being stubbornly with allowing me access. I need to resecure the rubber tubing that carries the electric wires from the bulkhead rearward to the door's interior.

Actually most of us don't need a special tool. All we do is shut the door hard and the handle comes off on its own.

Sometimes don't even have to shut the door, it just falls off!

Just a quick question on inside handle removal on a 23rd series, are they the same as my 56th series?
