What is the VN? The first set of digits is the Model number.
See the Model Identification guide. Check the FAQ section.

I apologize for being picky, but the first set of digits of the VN really isn't the "model number", its a unique number that defines the year, power plant, wheelbase, and body type.
For 1934 8-cyinder 4-door sedans there were 13 variants with several wheelbases and 2 different 8-cylinder engines; these included 5 passenger sedans, 7 passenger sedans, limousines, club sedans, formal sedans, etc. So the VN is the easiest way to establish just which one you have.

G'day Conop,
to PackardInfo. After you've identified your '34 Packard, I invite you to include it in the Packard Owner's Registry.

Thank you BigKev
The VIN listed on the title is 17810 0. But that number is not matching up with guides showing VIN numbers. We believe it is a Super 8. I am working on getting the wheel base measurement and other features. p

The 178XXX number on the title is most probably the "theft-proof" or body serial number, a large set on numbers enclosed by triangles at each end and embossed into the firewall. Without original factory records it's not likely this number can lead to an identification other than year of manufacture.
If you are unable to find the true vehicle number on the patent plate, then motor number, wheelbase and a photo should be sufficient to identify it specifically.

Since the vehicle is not here, it has taken me a little while to follow through on info.
I came up with this additional information. The VIN plate has the serial number 703868. Also it notes delivered 10-16-33 by Packard Washington. Unfortunately even that VIN doesn't fall within the ID data I have of 752001 - 753946 listed in the American Cars standard catalogue. I am sure it is the Super 8 having a luggage rack, spare tire on each side.

Does it look like this one which is a '34 Eight Sedan? The body number for the '34 Eight Sedan is 703 which could tie in with your "703868" which is more likely to be 703 868.
The 752001 - 753946 is the engine number series for '34 Super Eight's. Have you checked your engine number? If it is indeed a '34 Eight, the engine number series is 370001 - 373010.
