Visited my folks on the Gold Coast, about 900 kilometers north of Sydney, on the weekend. On the way home visited David and Margaret at Wauchope about 400 kilometers north of Sydney. They have 3 Packards, some other cars and collections of other "stuff". Lots of Packard pic's in the Picasa album, see link -

picasaweb.google.com/ozstatman/RoadTripGoldCoastToWauchope#

Terry(Traumjaegercat) - Some pic's of 34 shock links and rear spring/shock mounts near the end of the album. Don't worry about the mis-captioning.

Mal,

Great photos! Thanks tons for posting those, and thanks tons to the owners for letting you post them.

I have a question: what are the two silver 'downspouts' on the front of the 29? See attached pict.

Gerd,

No helmet camera, just standing on the edge of the railway station platform at Wauchope as the train to Sydney pulled in. I did the last 400 kilometres by rail, a pleasant trip, during most of which I read "From a Buick 8" by Stephen King and although I haven't finished it yet highly recommend the book.

Tom

Tom,

The owners, PACA members David and Margaret, are very nice people and are very happy to be able to share their collections. I plan to do a story on them and their Packards for our club publication "The Packardian" in the near future.

The two silver 'downspouts' are interesting objects and caught my attention also. Story is, there's been a lot of rain in the area over the last month and the horns on the '29 were swivelled around so that water wouldn't enter the horn 'spouts'.

I notice too you obscured the number plate of the '29 pic you used, very considerate. While I should do that, I don't have the technical knowledge to do so and consequently the pic's I post show everything I pickup through the camera lens.

Mal,

Thanks. Very interesting. I have never seen horns like that, and I don't recall seeing any pictures of cars with horns like that in any of my books. Also just looked in the photo archive, and no 29s there have such horns. Were they aftermarket?

Thanks,

Tom
