Has anyone had any experience with car lifts? I am thinking about installing one or two in my small suburban garage if I can raise the roof up to 12 or 13 feet. I would like to be able to drive my two daily driver cars underneath the raised lifts with the two Packards on them. Thanks.

The Back Yard Buddy one has a good four post design. Beware of ones with open post channels, and also off shore brands.

Mal, thanks for the links, and thanks to others who offered comments. I have seen 2- and 4-post Rotary lifts installed. They look to be professional-level models. Very nice. Also, the BMW dealer in Santa Fe has several drive on BendPac lifts in back of their facility for double parking on their small lot. These look to be good quality lifts too. Backyard Buddy and BendPac have good websites. I'll look at Rotary's too. I am just beginning this project and I don't know where it will lead. All depends upon getting the garage roof raised.

Rotary, BendPac, and Forward are definately high grade commercial units. I dont own any but ive used forwards and rotarys at friends garages, and they work very well. I know bend pac by reputation.

funny I wanted to do the same with my Packard, lift it so I can drive under. Built the roof high enough, couldn't afford the lift.

I wouldnt mind a 2 post mid-lift. Sure would make working on the bottom of the car easier. Dont have the headspace for a full lift.
