Nice! I have left long winded comments in code before to remind myself of something later on. But these are not visible to anyone else. Just to keep me from going "What the hell was I thinking when I wrote this 2 years ago".

Just out of curiosity, how many lines of code are in the average program that u guys are writing????? I mean are we looking at usualy 300 lines, 1000 lines or maybe 10000 lines of code or what?????

The latest piece of software I am writing has about 450,000 lines of code if I look at the various libraries that make it up.

I once had a program abend that had been running successfully for months. I finally realized the program had been invoked with no detail line asking to list or update the file. I never envisioned that, so I put a stoplight in the sewer. I put code in to send a message back to the screen of the requestor saying "You do not have enough expertise to utilize this form. Please refrain from using it". Several weeks later I got a call from one of our railroads asking if I knew of any program that might issue that statement. Hiding my laughter I got the details and explained why that happened. I also learned who had invoked the program with no input.
