Hello Packard Owners in AUS and NZ:

Mr. 1933, Bruce Blevins, will be traveling to AUS and NZ beginning March 7 and I am trying to help him out.

He is an expert in 1933 Packards, re-produces many parts for that era and he can talk you ear off for as long as you care to listen. He alson knows a thing or two about the Packard Proving Grounds.

You might not know this, but Bruce is a shy, quiet, country-boy from the hills of rural Michigan and not wise to wise to life in the big city.

He is traveling to the Packard Tour in New Zealand, but will be making stops in AUS first. He will be in Sydney from 3/9 to 3/11, then in Cairns from 3/11 to 3/14 and then off to NZ on 3/14.

If you want some advice on your Packard or keep Bruce away from the tempations of the big city, then you can reach him at blevinsb33@aol.com

Roger,

Thanks for the heads up. It's great to hear that Bruce Blevins will be in Sydney. But what's not so great is that I won't be there for most of the time Bruce is, because of a wedding I'm attending on the Gold Coast. However depending on his arrival time on the 9th I could still get to meet Bruce. Or possibly the morning of the 10th. Accordingly I'll email Bruce and find out his availability on those days. I'll also spread the word here in Oz generally, in Sydney and surrounds in particular as well as to 33/34 owners specifically.

I think Bruce deserves some PACA hospitality - something on the order of the assembly organized at the Royal Cricketeers Arms Tavern when the Flackmistress and I first arrived via Botany Bay....

David,

Good suggestion. The Royal Cricketers Arms is pretty well central with good accessibility. Been there on a car run(non-Packard) with the pub as our lunch stop. Plus Les Fisher is close by so Bruce should be able to see at least one RHD '33 while in Oz. Maybe two, if they are both in residence? If both are there, he'll be able to see consecutively numbered cars! Have sent around an email to many PACA members urging them to attend if we can set up a meeting with Bruce.

Bruce has replied to my email and advises he has free time on the evening of Friday the 9th to "meet Packard people and look at and talk Packards for the night". Now to work out the logistics! Seeing I'm about 120kms from where Bruce will be staying in the CBD I'll need some advice and assistance from others to make this work. Looking forward to meeting Bruce on Friday.

In about another hour I'll be leaving to pick up Bruce Blevins, who was referred to earlier as "a shy, quiet, country-boy from the hills of rural Michigan and not wise to wise to life in the big city", to enjoy a night of tucker and Packard talk and tales. We'll see.

Coming up to Midnight here and back home after a great evening with Bruce. Picked Bruce up outside his hotel at the appointed time, then through Sydney peak hour traffic to our dinner venue at Royal Cricketers Arms. Following a nice meal then ferried Bruce over to see Les and his pair of '33's. Attached is a, not very good, photo of the group at the pub.
