pontchief,
Welcome to Packardinfo. Always liked the "Bathtub Coupe" body style. When, not if, you get your Packard could you please add it to he Owner Registry together with a pic, and history if known? Again

The forum does not offer thread notifcations at this time. It creates alot of overhead that slows down the entire website. One of the things you can do is subscribe to the forums via an RSS reader. Also if you use Google, and have a iGoogle home page, then you can have it subscribe to the website, and it will show the latest forums post on your iGoogle homepage.

Just popping in

Just thought I would throw my 2 cents in. I own a 1948 Custom Club Sedan and the one in this picture is probably a super deluxe since the trim molding goes above the door. It would be the next lower model to the Custom. The lower Club sedan models did not have the trim above the doors

This style is my favorite "bathtub" Packard. I hesitate to use that pejorative, because the rejection of the styling is, I think, a rush to judgment. I saw a beautifully restored sedan on the street the other evening, and under the lights alongside the "modern" cars it looked beautiful.
But, it's a matter of taste. The design DID win a number of awards-- but not from car people. About that hole... I'll just add a couple of pure guesses: 1. There was another backup light installed like the one on the left. 2. Wherever that right bumper guard went, it could've taken something else with it... or left a neatly punched hole. I lean toward #1. Good to hear from Norwegian friends. You've got a lot of expatriates here in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I'm yust a quarter, myself.
