Howard - should I use the Echlin IC-7 coil , if my car has Delco system ?

The IC-7 is what Napa sells as a universal 6v coil and should be fine with Delco or Autolite. I am using it in the holder I made for the 47. That car has Autolite parts and it works well so should be OK with Delco too.

A coil doesn't care whether Autolite or Delco so on these 6v cars, as long as there are no special attached brackets, they are the same.

From what I have read - the negative side of coil goes to ignition , and positive side of coil goes to the distributor - Right ? Just checking

It your car still has positive ground, then yes, that is correct.
