Also, the 2297 model does not appear to exist. See the attached, engine number is within the range for 1948 Standard/Deluxe Eights.

Typo on the model number: 2293. Fixed now though.

Thank you. The range shown on the Packard Model Identification page for 22nd and 23rd is, I suspect, limited which is why I was trying to find the actual chart from which your capture came. It seems very elusive for some reason and I find it when not looking for it but not when I need it!

Thanks for the correction. Now, why no wood panels on the lower doors, just conjecture, perhaps a special dealer order to make a sale. The Station Sedans were slow sellers, relatively costly for an Eight spec'd model. A good deal of Station Sedan over-production occurred, caused almost 1000 to be re-numbered as 1949-'50 models to clear the inventory. This car wasn't re-numbered.

Proud 1953 Clipper Deluxe owner. Thinking about my next Packard, want a Clipper Deluxe Eight, manual shift with overdrive. |

Bob Neal's excellent book on the 22nd and 23rd Series Packards has extensive coverage of the Station Sedans.
