Mainly dashboard trim. Later in the year, the 180 models received cloisonne hub caps. Just little stuff, although when the cloisonne hub caps became available, that made the car look a whole lot better. Can't explain why something so small would do that, but it does.
Also, the 180 came standard with several things that were only optional for the 160.

Wow! At an all-in auction price of $52,250 (includes 10% buyer's premium) that means the seller received $47,500. IMHO it seems the BUYER got a very nice deal for a car that is know as a Full-Classic by CCCA.
Seems to me the Hollingsworth 1940 would be rated "high retail" according to the NADA Book Values nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1940/Packard/160-1803/2-Door-Club-Coupe/Values High Retail: $67,100 This vehicle would be in excellent condition overall. It could be a completely restored or an extremely well-maintained original vehicle showing very minimal wear. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are not in need of reconditioning. The interior would be in excellent condition. Average Retail: $31,000 This vehicle would be in good condition overall. It could be an older restoration or a well-maintained original vehicle. Completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. A '20-footer'. Low Retail: $15,800 This vehicle would be in mechanically functional condition, needing only minor reconditioning. The exterior paint, trim and interior would show normal wear, needing only minor reconditioning. May also be a deteriorated restoration or a very poor amateur restoration. Most usable 'as-is'. This value does not represent a 'parts car'.

I think if the owner can find a buyer to pay the costs expended so far less an adjustment for the car being disassembled he would be lucky.
I follow some of these cars that can't find buyers and every year the prices become more ridiculous. It's as though the stock market is making everybody feel rich. Well, the stock market is being propped up by the government. That didn't work in Japan 26 years ago when Tokyo stocks were four times more expensive than today and it won't work in the USA.

The back story on this car is turning out to be interesting. Seems it's been undergoing restoration since the early 1970s. The owner bought a NOS wiring harness, new window and windshield glass, new instrument and taillight glass, rechromed the bumpers, rebuilt the engine, but never made any real progress on getting it together again.
Question - I see two different heaters, one more deluxe appearance with chrome trim. Did Packard offer a choice of heaters in 1940? jack vines

I believe so. One is a heater only, the other is a heater defroster unit.
How many of us have bought a project understanding that the engine was rebuilt. Then, after it's all put together, we find out the engine wasn't quite rebuilt after all. That is why it's impossible to get top dollar for a car that doesn't run. The wise thing to do is to assume that the engine needs to be rebuilt, and pay accordingly.

Packard offered two firewall mounted heater/defroster units in 1940. The Super Deluxe part no. PA351502 price $21.95, and the Standard part no PA351503 price $18.75.........
