We had a nice 55f day here. Perfect for taking the Packard out. But sadly, my 10 year old Diehard Group 24 didn't survive the winter. She lived a long life, but alas, she is no more.
Luckily, the Advanced Auto near my house had a Autocraft Silver Group 24FT battery that fit perfectly in the battery tray with the hold-down. TIP: the Autocraft Gold series ones do not fit as the side handles block the hold-down. This is why I always take the hold-down in to verify. The Silver ones do now have the side handles. Anyways, with that battery swapped out, she started right up, and we were off for a nice little drive. Fluid changes are due before spring driving commences.

64F today!
The concrete in my garage is still bone chillingly cold. So I decided to let someone else lube the car. Drove the Clipper over to the local oil change place. This is one of the places where you sit in the car while they change the oil. Handed them a new oil filter (since they never have this one) and a sheet showing where all the lube fittings are. They had 4 guys and the manager working on it. This was not their mother's Toyota. I had to explain where the oil filter was, and how to change it. Also that it was easier for the guy in the pit to check the brake fluid level. Fluids changed and ready for the spring driving season.

Ralph is almost done with the radio. The new radio board and dual-voice coil speaker has been installed and here Ralph is testing the radio functions. I had him install the "mode" LED behind the flip-down door for setting the radio station buttons. In the video the door is open. The LED changes color to indicate which mode you are in. AM/FM/Bluetooth.

Sounds Great
My radio worked before I made the update. Afterwards, there is no doubt that AM & FM reception was much better. Congratulations

A few inside radio. The transformer on the left was needed as the wonderbar solenoid was engaging pretty harshly on 12v. So this steps it down to 6V so it doesn't slam when resetting the tuner position back to the beginning of the dial. Probably lost 5lbs of weight inside the can.

Apparently there is one conversion that offers the hum and slow "warm-up" for a more authentic experience. I can't recall who they are offhand but maybe someone here knows.
