Does anyone have the chrome strip that runs down the center of the '38, '39 "DeLuxe" heater? I am missing that.

FYI - The SoCal region of PI reproduces the heater duct hose.

I offer a word of advice on the defrost hose. 39 and earlier (the style pictured earlier) use 1 1/2 hose. 40 and latter runs 1 3/4 hose. The SoCal PI chapter does the 40 and latter 1 3/4 hose.
With that said, anyone have a source for the 1 1/2 hose? I need a section for my car. Jim

Below are clickable pictures of the defroster vents and one of the defroster hoses, removed from a '38 "Junior". The vents are much smaller than the 7" described in the eBay ad. They are 4 - 4.25". The heater hose is probably 1.5", although stretched to almost 2".

Just below the wheel the column is wrapped with friction tape (remember friction tape and dark closets?) OK I'll bite, What about friction tape and dark closets?? Boy, I'm not that old. If you take a roll of the old, cloth, friction tape into a dark closet and wait for your eyes to adjust to the dark, when you rapidly pull the tape off the roll it will give off blue sparks. I learned that from my father, maybe it was his generation. I've never heard that about friction tape. I did learn from my Dad that if you go out on Stinson Beach in northern California at night and kick at the sand you get sparks like you are describing. Think it's the phosphor in the sand. BTW I'm 61
