This one followed me home recently

Wish something that nice would follow me home. I usually wind up with the mistreated relative.

That is some chassis, I think Chevrolet copied them for their 1958 - 64 X frame full size models.

Roger (Randerson), thank you for the interesting looking pics. Is that a Lincoln? It looks like a car that was made in better times, suitable for Frank Cannon (pic: wikipedia).

Do you accidently have a pic, showing its tail end?
To answer your question regarding a possible influence of Soviet car design: not to my knowledge.

Howard, the variety of wishes is intriguing (pic: thelovecollage.com).

But to have a follower in a Chaika you should have run another career path.
The below shown pic I took in Berlin 38 years ago on the occasion of a state visit of Leonid Brezhnev.

BTW, who know the name of the almond-eyed lady dressed in red?

As though it were my fault that I couldn't think straight when I saw in her eyes. And how about you? Usually you don't need to right click any pictures to identify actresses like Catherine Deneuve.

Mal, how to find back from Belle de Jour to Soviet cars? In an advertising supplement aboard an aircraft I found photographs which prove that Madame Deneuve and Mr. Gorbachev prefer the same prestigious handbag brand. While Catherine is waiting for a train, Mr. Gorbachev is sitting ... in a Chaika.

I don't know how many Chaikas passed me on that day but remember that after 30 to 45 seconds the motorcade changed from three rows to two rows. While I was focused on my brand spanking new camera's viewfinder to capture this moment I couldn't count them because I was a little boy and giddy with excitement.

Back from short business trip. The diary was tightly packed with appointments but I found a gap, long enough to visit a friend. Sometimes you have to reduce the daily routine to the essential.

I really like the vitality and robustness of a V8.

Gerd - sorry not to reply readily, I've been away. To answer, Yes! 1957 Lincoln Premiere Landau (ie: 4 dr hardtop). I do accidentally have a rear pic or 2... this is the car that Packard might have shared a body with for '57, had Ford been more agreeable.

IIRC, Frank Cannon usually drove around in a a Mk III and IV, usually to the sound of a French horn, which seemed somehow appropriate to his rather sluggish physical presence, as did the car.

She needs some cosmetics, chrome, but runs great and is one attention getter... you don't see these everyday!
