I just noticed that in the second picture there are fluorescent bulbs stored in the car. Reminds me of when I first went to look at mine there was a fluorescent lightbulb in it. Wonder if there is some pattern there?

My engine guy is willing to talk. Reckon he wants it gone in this life and not the next.

Fred will be so pleased.

There is currently a 1956 Patrician (5682-4058) on BaT. The old lady saw better days... She displays a 1955 front bumper and grill.

You will notice the power brake conversion with a firewall-mounted brake booster. I wonder how the brake pedal was adapted to make it work.

The dash on the 1956 Patrician has a switch where the factory A/C control would be (to the left of the radio’s volume) but it has no A/C! Interesting and I wonder what it’s for. Maybe a rear defroster?

A 400 in the proper shade of pink (sardonyx), with a tan/brown interior that looks to be in great shape (code 89). $13k. Looks like a great running/driving survivor.

It does indeed look like a nice survivor. I noticed they painted the side trim all black, where I believe it is supposed to be black inside the grooves, and stainless on the faces. I wonder how hard it would be to clean off the paint from the raised areas and polish it?

I've never understood the brown interior with the non-matching exterior. The first time I saw a 400 that way I assumed they had just repainted the outside to whatever they wanted. I didn't realize they could be ordered that way.

Found another pre-war:

It's a Camaro frame with the drivetrain from a 1982 Chevy Suburban, 19th series body on top and already spent $1000 on an original hood ornament so "no low ballers". If you're this much into a rat rod project then why even try to sell?

Well shoot, I was just in the Elizabeth City area last week. Could have went to look at this poor thing.

Yeah Kevin I just match them up in the Paint/Interiors matrix.

For the 400's in 55 with the exterior paint of White Jade/Sardonyx, interior options were:

Tan/white/brown
Tan/sardonyx/white
White/black/white

And I just match by eye.

In 1955 there were 17 paint colors in 39 combinations plus 47 interior options for a combined total of over 700 style combinations. Needless to say no one just has these memorized... referencing the chart is a must when looking at these, to see if the car has been redone in some way. Same for looking at 56's.

Also I found a matching one a few weeks ago (in person actually); exterior was repainted but interior was all original.

On a modern car the power booster, master cylinder, and pedal assembly are a module.

So you take out the TreadleVac booster, drill the holes for the modern module (4 studs plus the pushrod) and bolt the thing on.

Those modifications don't bother me because new stock parts are not available and who wants to run over a little girl?

As for that 41 junkrod thing my question is - Why? Once he realizes you are there to look at carnage he will probably get pissed off and do who knows what? That garage indicates to me a nut. I'd stay away.

The hood ornament line is sad because you can still get the imitation Packard duck from trucker places. I saw one the other day on a Peterbilt. Totally ghetto. And for those thinking stereotypes, he was flying a Trump 2024 pennant.
