Dragon,
That's quite a fleet for a 32-year-old. Nice that you keep a full "registry" of your own. I have nowhere near the land or energy for that kind of activity. I'm an "old" '57 (Born-on year). But I still remember the whole series of rides: '62 Ford Galaxie (a grand old boat, 6 cyl. OD, my dad collected it for a delinquent repair payment) '65 Buick Electra ("inherited" 4 dr HT w Post, 401, great car) '73 Opel Manta Rally (my very own first used car, lots of fun wrenching on that "gas crisis special"--ended up with a Weber 2 bbl which really helped) '84 Mercury Capri RS 5.0 L (302) 5 spd factory Holley 4 bbl (my first new car and the hotrod I'd always promised myself--lots of TLC tinkering, a very reliable car) '79 Chrysler New Yorker "winter beater" (also "inherited"--my dad liked big cars, like Packards. This was also a boat-tower, and helped me learn that when you get a heavy boat, you automatically need two cars or a car and a truck) '95 Thunderbird V8 (a great new car but by 60K I was pretty sure it would be blowing blue smoke like all the Crown Vic 4.6 L's around town--but it also towed the boat all right, so down to one car, a worthy replacement for the Capri RS) '96 Dodge Dakota 4x4 3.9 L V6 SLT stretch cab (bought used and a recommended choice for anyone wanting an all-around towing, camping, winter-beating, great truck. Still have it and can't see how to get along without it) '06 Scion xA (2nd "gas-crisis" ferrin' kiddy-car-- it's the teeny car Scion, not the big box Scion) '61 Trojan 17' runabout w 292 Ford "Y-block" V8 (It gets most of the wrenching I do, but only in the Summer, no inside storage) And, of course, I started life in a '55 Clipper Custom, born before I was. Thanks for all the info everybody. This is a nice thread.

I have been pleasantly surprised by the number of younger folks who are interested in my favorite automobile. I had doubts about this thread, but it has been very enlightening. I am glad to see the great interest in Packards and also that all of you found your way to this website.

I'm 27. My first car was actually a model A pickup, but I sold it to buy a Jeep - a bit more practical for Ohio winters, hehe. I've owned three Mini Coopers. I currently only have the 2003 Cooper S painted up as a union jack. I did have a 1991 Mini Mayfair that turned into the ultimate money pit for a guy my age. Engine blew up 9 days after I got it! Lesson learned: don't buy a classic Mini off ebay. Heh. Now I drive the Cooper S on nice days, and an '08 4 door Jeep wrangler as my company car (helps keep the miles off the Mini).
Though, I have grown up around some of the wildest antique and classic cars out there, due to my father being in the restoration business for the first 2/3rds of my life. It certainly made my childhood atypical. When some kids were watching football with their dads, I was riding around with mine in million dollar classic cars to concours d'elegance events! I sure can't complain! I couldn't have asked for a better way to grow up! Lots of time in the truck towing a trailer with a car in it all over the country, I wouldn't trade those memories for the world.

I'm on my 50th go around. My first ride was in a '42 Packard limousine, a car my dad bought just before I was born. He still owns it.
I've gotten more speeding tickets in my life than I could ever count (almost all while on the freeway, I tend not to speed in town). The most memorable one was the first, when I was 16 driving a 1942 Lincoln Continental with an Andy Granatelli V8 installation. My mother still owns that car. I currently own a 50,000-mile 1940 Packard 1808 touring sedan with factory air, a car I remember staring at when I was very, very young. It was in a small museum in Brooten, Minnesota.

Hey there....love this site!
I've been a Packard fan since I've been in Highschool and started reading about them. I'm 26 and live in Chicago....I'm in the real estate business with my partner. I've only driven a Packard once (my friend Ken's 55' Patrician)....and I've sat in a 1949 Packard coupe with the comorant hood ornament...and a HUGE room-like interior! I really enjoy this site and contribute when I can! Thanx much! Roman
