Hi Bryan

I believe that '52 models in turquoise are correct, I've seen a couple of '51-'52 models in junkyards years ago in that color. Packard also offered it in the 23rd Series.

Of LWB models, whatever the make, once they hit the used car market: it was almost always a hard, workhorse life as a livery car. Here, one fellow who ran a small taxi company always had an older Cadillac 75 or two in service. He got his use out of them, they were pretty tired by the time they got parked.

To give you an idea how cheaply such Packards could be bought used, in a 1956 NADA Used Car Guide, a '53 Packard 8 passenger sedan average wholesale was $950 versus a Patrician sedan at $895. Not much more, but still enough for a car that would be hard to sell used.

Of course, by 1956, the rumors were rife, everyone knew that "Packard is going out of business".

Steve

P.S. Thanks Owen, for verifying my memory. Paint code "S" Patricians were probably rare, seems a color more popular for convertibles and Mayfair hardtops.

Here's another Al Capone car. I find it hard to believe that he would of been driving a junior Packard.

I think we discussed this 1926 Holbrook convertible on a 1929 Packard Chassis with a Rolce Royce Grill here before but she popped up on CL again:

I think I may have handled a call once on this bomb.

They thought they had a speedster motor but the number was a Custom 8.

They don't show the motor number so I don't believe it.

Hi

I wish someone would buy this car, use the parts to keep other Packards going, give the RR radiator to the car missing it, renovate the body for an appropriate chassis and ultimately, put this poor car out of its misery.

The chassis is a 29 Packard, so what was the 26 Holbrook body build for?

.....it was discussed a while back on the AACA Website.

And here's a link to a '25 Packard Holbrook Coupe here in Oz with an interesting history. Went to auction last weekend but don't know if it sold.
