Just thought I would let all of you know that there is a 1954 Caribbean up for auction on eBay. It is clasifled as a "garage find" and the seller concedes that the number one piston in the engine is seized. Other than the seized engine, the car looks rather complete for a "garage find" but the opening price of $34,695.00 with a "Buy It Now" price of $38,995.00 is a bit much, even for a car of which only 400 were produced. Still, I thought that I would toss it out for your consideration.
1954 Packard Caribbean Convertible Garage Find Only 400 built in this model I wonder why I never find stuff like this in my garage? This one is from Missouri.

Looks like a great starting point to make at the least a very presentable driver from, but at the least needing some engine work, not at that price. What gets me is when the seller says that there is a huge upside profit potential!! Has he never restored (or paid to have restored) a Caribbean, or any other high-end convertible? They are one of the grandest suction pumps for money.

I wonder how that know that it is only cylinder 1 that is stuck? My engine was stuck when I got it. Soaking with some snake oil freed it up. No rebuild required.

Kev, that was going to be my next question- good thinking. How would one know that just one piston was stuck, and that it was a particular one? Only way I'd know that was to take the engine down.

It has been on Ebay before at that price.I guess it never sold.I believe it was the lowest production year for Caribbeans (if you count Hard tops and Convts for 56 together)

My guess is it has a cracked block that can't be repaired.

I think the cormorant on the hood scoop looks a little strange. Don't know why you would do that but to each his own.
There could be a lot of work beneath the surface (brakes, suspension, fuel system rebuild, etc). $35K would be a fair price for a running, 20 footer, with no mechanical issues.

Shouldn't it also have the "finned" headlight rings being a '54.
