Took the '52 out for its maiden voyage today. I believe the clutch has seen better days, as you can tell by the lack of movement out of the car. Probably just the clutch disk correct? Anything else I can do to make her move better?
P.S. Hard on the engine! Not transmission!, just to clear that up. <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YMSvGASzRUM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Congratulations Garrett on the maiden voyage, all that work, effort, time and money finally showing a return, you must be very pleased! Concerning the clutch, is it adjusted properly with the right amount of free play in the pedal? Could be as simple as that so check it out before needing to go further. If it's more than that probably best to do both the clutch and pressure plates. But if you do those you're then in a position to check the flywheel surface as well as the throwout bearing. I know, it's the snowballing effect, but if there are problems better to attend to them when things are apart.

Thanks Mal!
I'll give that a look sometime soon. The clutch doesn't contact till the very top of the pedal's travel. I'm sure an adjustment might help out, but I fear the clutch needs replacement soon. Could a weak throw out fork spring be a factor as well? P.S. Nice 200 Deluxe James! I had seen your video before, and I think it is hilarious. Doll heads to scare away the tourists...LOL.

Does anyone know where I can get clutch parts from, other than the usual suspects? Just want to prep myself if the free play adjustment doesn't work out. Money is pretty tight after buying my tires, and I can't afford to spend $400 anytime soon. I need the clutch disk, pilot bearing, throw out bearing, pressure plate.
Thanks as always, -Garrett

Garret,
Usual sources for the clutch: Kanter and Max Merritt. Is there a clutch and brake rebuilding/relining shop where you could get the clutch disc rebuilt? We have one in Austin, and I suspect there is probably more than one in San Antonio. I had them reline the brake shoes on my '47 Custom Clipper. They may have a source for the other clutch parts too. You may also need to have the flywheel resurfaced. Check 'em out. (o[]o)
