Hello all! I have never ever documented a restoration on a forum before so bear with me but here goes! I'm looking forward to all the knowledge and tips I can get but I'm also very excited to get going so here is page 1 I think you all will like the story behind it. My Dad bought this car brand new in 1953 and I have every document service record ect even every repair part and service ever done to it. Dad died in 2010 at 85 years old and at the funeral a good friend came up and hsanded me the keys to the car. We had sold the car on a farm action in 1975 and I or Dad never thought we would see her again but they brought it back with all the original papers and still titled in Dads name so its a neat story. I'll need your expertise and knowledge and look forward to learning and having fun it will be a long project but I love my garage time! I cahanged oil and battery and using a remote fuel cell she fired right up but then I started the tear down fuel system complete first and will probably be doing a complete frame off My family will never see me now I prepared with fridge bed ect I love it (the old lady might not)!

G'day bscycles,

Great to see you've started a blog on the restoration of your Clipper, I'll be following along with interest. Don't mean to step on your toes but instead of starting a new thread, like this one, for each aspect of the project could you keep it all in one thread being the one we're in now? If that's OK maybe BigKev can merge the other thread into this one to keep everything together?

No Worries, and yup, to add fresh posts to a thread just click on the reply button and take it from there. Hopefully BigKev, our esteemed Webmaster, can integrate the two threads and save you any troubles in fixing things.

Fantastic bscycles!

Great emotional value!
This car just belongs to your family.
Please preserve the existing patina as much as possible, it is part of the history of the car and your father's history.

Good luck!

What a great story! Best of luck with the restoration!
My Dad had a 53 Packard Clipper too. That is one of the reasons I bought mine. But mine is not his car. Although it is very similar.

Super Clipper correct? The 3 hole gauges and seat frame are completely different than on my car ('54 Deluxe).

So for brakes and a few other parts, your car has more in common with the 1953 Clippers then it does the 1954 Clipper Deluxes and Specials.

If you check the STB/Trade Letters here on the website there are a couple of notes in regards to this. Basically they used '53 brakes and dash clusters on the '54 Supers for some odd reason. Also you rim size is different that the other '54 Juniors. I learned this the hard way.
