Does anybody have any photos of driving / fog lights on 46-47 Clippers? Particularly interested in Trippe driving / fog lights.

Thanks
Lyndon

47 Custom Super. Can't assure you that the installation was done per Packard recommendations but an attractive installation IMO. Yes, they are centered - it's the perspective that makes them appear not so.

2nd photo 47 Super Clipper. Same comments apply.

That is one fine chrome and polish job on the top bumper. The dark reflection almost makes it appear a portion is open on the drivers side.

Here is a slightly out of focus photo of my 47 Clipper showing the fog lights and after market Trippe 'Fog Beam' headlights.

Keith,

The fog light housings are mounted on a flared bottom housing that is painted body color. Yes, there is a 1/2" threaded tubing that attaches the lights to the front bumper splash shield. The connector tubing is hidden by the flared bottom housing. The lenses are secured to the light housing by a bezel. I thought you would be more interested in the Trippe lights.

Let me rephrase the question:
To remove the bulb or sealed beam, is there a band that has to be removed. That is to say, are there 3 pieces, a chrome or SS bezel, a band, and the main housing??

Packard V8,
The arrangement you describe is exactly the way my "Fog King" lights are assembled. There is a screw at the bottom of the band that tightens it around the sealed beam and housing.
Hope this is helpful.

Thnx Mark. The fog lite in JW's picture (and your construction description) above very closely resemble spot lites used on Indiam motorcycles as factory accessories. The only difference is that the fogs in JW's pic appear to be more hemisperical than tear dropped shape. The Indian spot lites were refered to as LIttle FireFly sopt lites.

I have a pair of such lites on my 48 Chief and like them so much that i mounted one to the back of my 01 Dodge Ram as an auxillary backup lite.

I'll try to get a pic of one over the next few days and post it here.

Note that the big 3 Indian dealers Kiwi,Stark and greer still sold the spot lites as of 8 or 10 years ago that i know of. Maybe some on eBay too for a variety of pics.
