Dear bplug:
I've run into this problem before. The float needle and seat are worn out. As the needle/seat wears the sealing area increases to the point were the psi on the sealing surface is spread too wide and it leaks. There is an outfit in Arizona called classic carburetor that may be able to make one for you. Good luck with your car.
